This is the Astro Mini-van my friends James in Kyndal live in. It’s All-Wheel-Drive with a lift kit and 35 inch mud ties. They go wherever they want and they usually want to go remote!

There are about 30 of us here boondocking in a camp just outside of Ehrenberg, AZ and we are having a great time! But it’s a great big desert and we’re all scattered around it. One of the things I like to do is host a Pizza Party from time to time to gather us all in one pace so old friends can see each other again and we can all get to know the many new people who are coming into camp. This year we had one last Sunday and I knew there would be 30 people so I bought 12 pizzas from Little Caesars: 6 Pepperoni, 2 Sausage, 2 Pineapple and 2 Vegetarians plus 4 breadsticks.

But in today’s post I’m going to do something a little different and have a guest post from my good friends Kyndal and James. They’re also camped near Ehrenberg but they need more privacy than most and are camped pretty far back by the mountains. I was delighted that they came by for pizza and I got to visit with them again. James has a Youtube channel and I’ve been making videos with him recently and he also has an internet businesses he runs from camp so he keeps pretty busy.
Kyndal has a blog (click here to visit her blog: http://enigmaticnomadics.blogspot.com/) and when I read this blog post about her day of the pizza party I knew I had to share it with you. It just has an amazing feel for the simplicity and joy of our lives. People frequently ask me , “What’s your day like; what do you do with all that time?” I think she covers it all here: 1) we work, 2) we visit with friends, 3) we play with our dogs, 4) we explore our area, but most of all, 5) we revel in nature. I can’t really explain it, but every vandweller I know will tell you that they are busy all day. They can’t really tell you what they did, they just know they were busy doing it and it was a good time! They will also tell you that it was a wonderful day full of quiet contentment and joy. It was a day they wouldn’t trade for anything else in the world!

I know! I found this whole “new” way of writing, then left again! To be honest, we have been really busy lately. How we get so busy out in the desert, people don’t seem to understand….but we are at a “high call volume” for business, right now.

Jamie, mostly has been working on van, mechanical stuff and I have been doing hair cuts and finding time for peace and serenity…which I’ve needed more than ever. Today, though….feels like our first break in a long time (a week and a half!)
We found time to go over for a pizza lunch that Bob was hosting. There were a ton of people that we hadn’t met yet, but we were able to meet some…and sure we’ll meet more at the RTR.

That’s the pizza party, in the foreground from the left is Justin, James and myself–Kyndal is taking the picture. You can see the pile of empty boxes behind the table, all the pizza got eaten!

When we left, we went home through the desert and Jamie showed me a Quartz out-cropping that is just too cool and only a few hundred steps away from our camp!!

They found this quartz vein not far from camp. They ride the bike all over the desert–its cheap and fun! If you’re wondering, yes, this is gold country! There are active mines nearby

Coming up to Ehrenberg from Yuma on Wednesday. Are folks still camping there? Any ideas on an interesting route? Any sand traps to watch out for at the site/s?

  Steve, yes we are still here so follow the map. You won’t have any problem with the road getting into camp.
  You’ll drive right past the KOFA National Wildlife Refuge which is well worth exploring. You’ll also drive past Quart Hill which is great fun for rock hounds. See you soon!

I am completely jealous of all you people living the van life, hopefully I will be there someday. Until then I am working on getting my rig ready, but it is proving a difficult project. I missed the Quartzsite event this year, but I will be there next year (Jan, 2017).

I absolutely love reading here and watching your videos on youtube. I want tolive like you do but I have a few concerns. Some ofmy meds have to be refrigerated. How dou you do that? Water storage also. Ihave a million questions!

  Elaine, if you buy an RV it will come with a propane refrigerator and you just put the meds in it. If you buy a van you have two choices, 1)an ice chest and you buy ice to keep food and meds cold, and 2) buy a 12 volt compressor fridge to keep food and meds cold. They are fairly expensive and you will need solar to power it. Water: an RV will come with water tanks so you just fill them. In a van you can carry water jugs to carry water. Some people use multiple 1 gallon jugs and other people use bigger jugs like 5-7 gallon jugs. Bob
