IN PREVIOUS YEARS, the Homes On Wheels Alliance acquired and outfitted minivans for worthy recipients. But vehicle prices have soared, making the acquisition of suitable minivans unfeasible.
So an alternative plan was created. Nomads who already had vehicles but were lacking essentials like power, bed platforms and ventilation could have them installed in their rigs. HOWA would provide the materials and labor, with recipients helping where they were able.
A new group of recipients will be served each week of April 2022. Here’s a short video featuring the first week’s group.
If you can, donate to HOWA to help keep their valuable and life-changing work going.
I love this idea! While I can’t be there, I am happy to be able to support this endeavor. It’s good to share our blessings and I’m happy to see so many volunteers doing just that.
I am so happy to see this…it restores my faith in people.
Exactly !!
It’s a great thing you are doing. My roommate and I are having our van done by a local company. We can’t get our van into their shop until August.
In the meantime, get a bucket potty, a pop up tent and air beds and get out there now! It would be a shame to miss this whole season. Another choice, If it’s affordable, stay at campgrounds with showers and plug ins for a heater and that may sell ice for a cooler. And there’s always dehydrated/freeze dried foods at Walmart or online to just add hot water. I’m 87 and can still find ways to enjoy the outdoors. Blessings and greetings from the PNW.
????
I seem to always be behind the 8 ball. I still have 18 days before I can hit the road, with a minivan not built out. Due to physical issues I really need assistance with a bed. I think I have all the equipment to get started, I just want the safety of being able to sleep in the van if necessary. I can pay for materials and labor.
Any independents out there associated with this group available after April?
I love you guys and thanks for being there.
