I read her book called Wild. It is captivating. I’ve listened to most of the thru-hiking books on Audible. I started during a long horrible illness. These books saved my life. They are the most inspirational books I have ever read.
If anyone wants to discuss thru-hiking books, please let me know in comments or write to Facebook Messenger. Kaiya Tanaka. Profile picture is a floral design.
I caught a severe case of Covid last year and through my healing and rehab have found a renewed love for the outdoors and the wanderlust of RVing and hiking.
I can relate to you brief comment.

I can’t hike anymore because of emphysema, but I apply this approach to my urban walks. With awareness or mindfulness, you’ll see just how much “wild” there is virtually everywhere.
I love the wild too but my life has mostly passed me by since I’m now 92 years old. But I can still imagine how it is hiking through the mountains where it’s just you and the trees and rocks etc. I too have shortness of breath so I can’t walk very far even at 800 feet above sea level here in northern Indiana. I have been told that it’s not my lungs but my heart that causes it, not pumping enough blood to the lungs I guess. It’s nice reading what other people have done or are doing out west, it’s so beautiful out there.
