I car camped in my Prius all over the USA and had a great time. Much nicer than any of these RV”s.

Hi, I had my Prius fixed up so I could sleep in it and under the bed platform plenty of room for food and clothes. I was more of a traveler than a camper however. The Prius ran great and I loved that you could set the temperature for whatever you wanted and the engine would come on automatically and keep it that way. I did one trip from Florida to Alaska in a roundabout way so 12,000 miles and averaged 51 mpg. I’m 92 years old now and still married to my wife of 89 years, so my traveling days are pretty much over.
Those pictures of rigs are “beyond cool.” They have a vintage restoration travel trailer gathering in Palm Springs every winter. There’s so much TLC in these things. It’s worth checking out if you head that way. So much polished aircraft aluminum, bring your sunglasses.

Mark Brownell Do you know where we can find out more about the vintage restoration gathering in Palm Springs? Sounds like fun.

@Pam – check out Vintage Trailer Magazine. They host a bunch AND have a nice magazine AND host builds as well. A GREAT resource! Also Tin Can Tourists is another one.

I found several, including one this weekend in Hemet. I just googled it.

NOW I UNDERESTAND WHY SOME CAMPGROUNDS WANT A PICTURE OF YOUR RIG
Yesterday from the back it looked like a gypsy wagon being towed down the road. However, when I passed it looked more like the fuselage of a vintage aircraft! It had an opening where a propeller might be but instead had a single headlamp. There was no entry door on the driver side….like most aircraft. It was really cool. Gave a thumbs up as I drove away. Saw it in central Texas heading west.

I think I saw the same vehicle in Arizona this winter.
