AS SOMEONE WHO RUNS A WEBSITE, I get promotions from various companies offering Artificial Intelligence services that can crank out content for you. No pesky research or long hours at the keyboard. Just feed Artificial Intelligence a topic, wait a few seconds, and you get a few nice paragraphs with fairly accurate but shallow information devoid of any trace of humanity. It’s the type of prose that would get you a C+ on a term paper, or that would work okay as social media filler if all you care about is keeping the traffic numbers up until you overcome writer’s block. Or laziness.
So, here are the results from asking the all-knowing Artificial Intelligence machine about finding free place to camp on public land. And the images are the result of asking a stock image company for photos on the same subject.
FINDING FREE CAMPING ON PUBLIC LAND can be a great way to enjoy the outdoors without having to pay for a campsite. Here are some steps you can take to find free camping on public land:
1. Research the land management agency: Identify the public land in the area you are interested in and find out which agency manages it. Some common agencies include the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Forest Service, and National Park Service.2
2. Check for rules and restrictions: Before you start camping, make sure you are familiar with the rules and regulations for the area. Some areas may have restrictions on where you can camp, the length of your stay, and other rules you need to follow.
3. Look for dispersed campsites: Many public lands have areas designated for dispersed camping, which means you can camp in undeveloped areas. Look for areas with existing fire rings or cleared campsites.
4.Use maps and apps: There are many r esources available to help you find free camping on public land. Websites and apps like Freecampsites.net and iOverlander provide maps and information about free campsites.
5. Ask locals for recommendations: Local outdoor recreation stores, visitor centers, and ranger stations can be a great source of information about free camping on public land. Ask for recommendations or advice on finding the best spots.
Remember to practice Leave No Trace principles and pack out all your trash. Leave your campsite better than you found it, so that others can enjoy the same experience.
None of that is inaccurate, it’s readable… am I missing something?
I’d read that for a robot to replace a human it didn’t have to do a job faster it just needed to make fewer mistakes.
The world is changing right in front of our eyes…
It doesn’t contain any details or examples, and it has no personality.
404 This Human Can Not Be Located
(sometimes that’s a good thing!)
404 is area code in Atlanta, GA.
404 is also the code for websites when you hit a page link that does not (or no longer) exist.
There were times I felt lost in Atlanta. 🙂
Makes me want to go to sleep and never wake up again.
If this is the future, I’d rather just stop breathing.
If this is “shock treatment”, it worked. Shutting down my phone and writing a postcard to my fed ex guy now.
Better than some of the “content creators” and “influencers” I have read.
Unfortunately, yes. I would like to see more of us fans reject the term “content creator” altogether and refer to people like Bob and Al as what they are:
writers, artists, researchers, philosophers, and sometimes even friends.
The purpose of a “content creator” is merely to spew out (expletive deleted) to keep the target glued to their phone so that more advertising can be sold. The purpose on an influencer is to manipulate the target’s emotions to make them feel inadequate and unhappy so that they will buy (expletive deleted) that they wouldn’t want even if they could afford it, which they can’t.
Is this the internet we want as a necessary and regular part of our lives?
This is so spot on!
Wow! Well said!
I see identical content from a dozen camping newsletters.
Bland and non-informative.
For months, I considered un-subscribing, but held on, hoping for a usable tidbit.
Those never came.

Partly based on this article, tomorrow is the day I dump those time-wasters.
Mixed feelings.
I just want to say that these AIs will rewrite the article with more or less detail and specifics, you just have to ask them. When you ask for something general, you will probably get a general answer (or article written by the AI.)
All you have to do is ask for what you want. Usually these AIs work by having a chat conversation with you, they can remember what you chatted about earlier and improve or change the output, based on what you want. If you get something too generic, be more specific in your next question. AI is a tool.
Play around with it for yourselves:
